Reigning Class S champion St. Paul-Bristol played 10-win Seymour Monday and reigning M champion Wolcott Wednesday and felt it was prime-time tournament time.
“Big NVL games; it sure was like the states ,” St. Paul coach Vic Rinaldi said. “Those typically are lower scoring with the emphasis on defense and pitching.”
St. Paul excelled at both in defeating Seymour 5-0 on Jack Bator’s two-hitter and Wolcott 4-0 on Wes Lahey’s three-hitter. Bator is 4-0 with a 0.79 ERA and Lahey is 4-1 with a 2.08 ERA.
Owning an eight-game winning streak through games Thursday, St. Paul (13-2), No. 10 in The Courant area ratings, looks ready to make another run in the S Tournament.
