Senior Scholarships

Read the eligibility/requirements for each scholarship carefully to allow enough time to write required essays, obtain outside recommendations, if necessary, and obtain all necessary documents from the Guidance Office (transcripts, teacher and counselor recommendations – a Scholarship Documentation Request form is attached).  (In most cases, if recommendation letters are required, you may use the recommendation letters we have on file for your college applications.)


3/7/25 - Main Street Community Foundation, Inc. - The Main Street Community Foundation scholarship programs are now open for applications! There are a large number of scholarships available and all information and applications can be found on https://www.mainstreetfoundation.org  Review scholarships early and follow the application instructions carefully.  The majority of applications require a transcript, letters of recommendation, essay or other documentation that may take a little time to complete or collect.  Please complete and submit a Scholarship Documentation Request form to the Guidance Office in advance of March 7th.  (Electronic transcripts and letters of recommendation will be emailed by Guidance directly to Main Street Foundation, however, you must still request them on your Scholarship Documentation Request form indicating they are for Main Street Foundation.) Please indicate in your application that you will have your transcript and any teacher/counselor letters "mailed" as you will not be able to upload them yourself.  List of Scholarships available to St. Paul students attached.


3/14/25 – Forestville Village Association - is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior continuing his or her education at a two or four year college.  Awarded annually to a student who lives in or has a family/job connection to Forestville. Although a connection is not mandatory to win this scholarship, it will be preferred. Others are encouraged to apply.  The recipient will be at least a solid "B" student involved in community and/or extracurricular school activities. He or she must live in Bristol or attend a Bristol school. Financial need will be just one factor of many considered. All applications must be received by the scholarship committee no later than Friday, March 14, 2025. Application attached.


3/14/25 - Sanford S. Shorr Education Awards/Midstate Chamber of Commerce - up to three ($1,000) awards are presented annually by the Midstate Chamber of Commerce to graduating seniors.  The Chamber is also accepting applications for the Hispanic Outreach Leaders in Action Committee Award, the Frank A. & Charlotte G. Young Award and the Bruce H. Kannenberg & Jonal Laboratories, Inc. Education Award. Applicants may reside in Meriden or may be an employee or dependent of a Midstate Chamber member in good standing regardless of where you reside.   A directory of members is found at www.midstatechamber.com.  Application attached.


3/16/25 – Community Foundation of Greater New Britain - The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is offering numerous scholarships.  (Students will need to create an account within the system and take the eligibility quiz to determine which awards they are eligible for.  Go to:  https://cfgnb.org/scholarships-overview/ for instructions and application.


3/20/25 – Holden It Together Scholarship  - This scholarship was started in memory of Kevin Holden, who passed away from a Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor in 2014.  Kevin was very active as a volunteer Little League umpire in Bristol and beyond.  The goal of the scholarship is to help a student who has been affected, by a brain tumor in some way, whether it was themselves, family member, friend, etc.  To be considered, the packet must be completed and postmarked no later than March 20, 2025.  Application attached.


3/25/25 – Robert S. Watson Scholarship – ($500-$1,000) Awarded to a student who exemplifies community spirit, citizenship, and scholarship.  Applicants must be residents of Bristol who are in their senior year. (A character reference from the supervisor of a volunteer organization or from a company/institution for which the applicant did volunteer work is required). Completed application packets should be submitted to the St. Paul Guidance Office by Tuesday, March 25th.  Application attached.


3/31/25 - Bristol Exchange Club A.C.E. (Accepting the Challenge of ExcellenceAward recognizes high school students who have had to overcome physical, emotional, or social obstacles and are now eligible for high school graduation. If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, please see your school counselor to express your interest and to receive the application essay prompts. 


3/31/2025 – American Savings Foundation Robert T. Kenney Scholars -The Robert T. Kenney Scholarship is the largest independent college scholarship program from a single source of funds in Connecticut. The program is named after founding chairman, Robert T. Kenney. Robert T. Kenney Scholarships are awarded to current high school or college students primarily based on financial need, with consideration given to academic performance, community involvement, and other indications of a strong desire to achieve goals through education. Applicants must live in one of the 64 Connecticut towns served by American Savings Foundation. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 - $4,000.  For more information and to apply online visit https://www.asfdn.org/scholarships


3/31/25 - Glenn Moon Scholarship-Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut (ARTC) – ($2,000) awarded to a senior who is interested in pursuing a career in education.  For instructions and application go to:  www.artct.org, click on Glenn Moon Scholarship.   Students MUST use the 2025 online application and directions for mailing. (Each year there are changes to the application form; therefore application forms from previous years will not be accepted.) Applicants should create, save and send a PDF folder containing all required sections to the committee reader for your area.  Students should not use Google Share.


4/1/25 – Knights of Columbus Terrence Lescoe Memorial Scholarship – ($1,000) Applicant must be a resident of Berlin (Kensington, Berlin, and East Berlin).  Application attached.


4/1/25 – Knights of Columbus Alfred Greco Memorial Scholarship – ($1,000) Applicant must be a resident of Berlin (Kensington, Berlin, and East Berlin); Father or Grandfather must be a member of the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Thomas L. Greylish Council, No. 3675.  Application attached.


4/3/25 – Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund ($2,000 -$10,000) – offers renewable, 4-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, the community or at home) and a strong work ethic.  Instructions attached.  For more information and to access the scholarship application, visit www.phillips-scholarship.org


4/11/25 – GFWC The Harwinton Woman's Club – ($1,000) Two scholarships are being offered.  The applicant shall: Be graduating from high school in May/June 2025; have shown evidence of good citizenship; give indication of future promise; show financial need for scholarship assistance; and be a resident of Harwinton.  Completed applications should be returned by April 11th to Mrs. Kilbourne in the Guidance Office.  Application attached.
