Coach Bob Beltrandi

February 4th, 2025

The St. Paul community was saddened to learn that our former football coach, Bob Beltrandi passed away last week in Ohio. He was a coach, friend and mentor to many and left lasting impressions on all he came in contact with. He was a substitute teacher and a respected coach here at St. Paul Catholic High School, Bristol from 2005 until his departure to move closer to family back in 2019. Coach Jude Kelly shared this memory of Coach Bob; it's a quote from an interview he did - "Coach Bob, how do you deal with being handicapped?" Coach Bob: "The only handicapped people in this world are the ones without Faith." - what a testament this quote is to Coach Bob's life!

A few sentiments shared by St. Paul football moms:
"Our boys would not be the men they are had they not been graced with Bob’s warmth, wisdom, guidance, optimism and unconditional love. Coach Bob was one of a kind and he will live on in the hearts of the young men whose lives he touched." - Lisa Carroll - mom to Brendan '15
"Coach Bob's unconditional love will never be forgotten. Our family is so blessed to have known him. Our boys and everyone that was around him are better people because of him." - Mabeline Silva - mom to Jose '15, Jordan '17, Josh '21

In 2011, Catherine Gibson, a St. Paul parent, was called to write a book about Coach and titled it "Coach Bob & Me". The story is based on Coach's encouragement and valuable lessons about overcoming obstacles and gaining confidence which resonated with all. The author set up a scholarship in coach's name where proceeds from the sale of the book were donated.

From the St. Paul family, we send our thoughts and prayers to his family and to all whose lives he touched.
