St. Paul Spring Musical is Here!

March 28th, 2025

The weekend of April 4-6 St. Paul Performing Arts will present the rollicking, family-friendly musical “Tarzan” at the St. Paul Catholic High School Theater.

Adapted for the stage from Disney’s epic animated adventure — and based on the popular characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs — the musical show features high-flying excitement as well as heart-pumping music by rock legend Phil Collins, with a score that includes the Academy Award-winning “You’ll Be in My Heart” as well as “Son of Man,” “Two Worlds,” and “Strangers Like Me.”
The musical, based on Disney’s animated musical and Edgar Rice Burrough’s book, tells the story of an infant boy who is taken in by a gorilla named Kala after his ship crashes on the shores of West Africa.

Kala names the boy Tarzan and raises him as her own. Tarzan strives for acceptance from his ape father, Kerchak throughout childhood. When a human expedition treks into his tribe’s territory, he then encounters Jane a human like himself.

Tarzan struggles to navigate the jungle, with the support of his friend Terk and finds his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts.
"Tarzan" is a family show, with flying and live music. If you're looking for a musical that’ll please kids of a wide age range, and one the adults will enjoy as well, this is it.
