World Language National Exam Awards

June 5, 2023 - 3:07 pm

Congratulations to fifty-two students from St. Paul Catholic High School who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2023 National Spanish Examinations.
The combined medal count earned by students includes 1 gold, 4 silver, 10 bronze and 37 Honorable mention. Gold medal placement is for students scoring in the 95th percentile or higher, silver medal is for 85th-94th percentile, and Bronze medal for the 75th-84th percentile.

The yearly National Examinations are a motivational contest to recognize the achievement in the study of Spanish and to stimulate further interest in the teaching and learning of Spanish. The examinations are online, standardized assessment tools for grades 6-12, given voluntarily by thousands of teachers throughout the United States to measure performance and achievement of students who are studying Spanish. The exams are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Lisa Greenman, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 73,000 students participating in 2023.”

Students from Saint Paul Catholic High School were taught by Spanish teachers, Mrs. Noemi Jalbert, and Mrs. Yaira LeBron-Rojas.

The NATIONAL FRENCH EXAM AWARD RECIPIENTS 2023 (students taught by Madame Kimberly Kellogg) and The NATIONAL LATIN EXAM STUDENT PERFORMANCE 2023 (Latin students taught by Dr. Jonathan Gnoza) are listed in the list below as well!
