Spring 2022 Athletic Updates

Congratulations to all of the teams and spring athletes on their exceptional efforts and accomplishments this spring. There is plenty of action left so stay tuned.

 

The Girls Tennis Team completed their regular season 7-9 and qualified for the NVL Team and State tournaments.  They lost in the 1/4 final round of the NVL Team Tournament and will begin their State Tournament play on Friday, May 27th.  Congratulations to Charlotte Jennings (Charlotte also qualified for the Individual State Tournament) , Adriana Raymond, Renee Singleton, Anna Kronen, Calista Oria and Emily Dwyer who all qualified for and competed well in the Individuals NVL Tournament.

 

The Baseball Team finished their regular season 20-0 and is the number one seed in the class S State Tournament and as the number 1 ranked team in the state.  They opened the NVL Tournament with a win over Seymour and will now take on Woodland in the Semi-Final Round on Wednesday night at 7:00pm at Municipal Stadium.  All NVL honors for the team included the selection of 5 players; Ryan Daniels, Casey Cerruto, Mario Izzo, Brendan Foley, and Joe Tonnotti.  And Devin Kulas was selected as a member of the All Iron Division Team. Also of special note on the baseball team Brendan Foley pitched the VERY rare Perfect game vs. Woodland on May 9th and Ryan Daniels was selected as the Male NVL Senior Athlete of the Year – congratulations gentlemen.

 

The Softball Team finished the season playing their best softball of the year but came up just one game short to qualify for the Class S State Tournament finishing at 7-13.  Congratulations on your efforts this season and congratulations to senior Gillian Smith who was named to the All NVL team and to freshman Lauren Kozlak who was selected to the NVL All Iron Division Team.

 

The Girls Lacrosse Team finished their season winning their last 6 games while earning themselves a home game for the WCLC Championship on Thursday at 3:00pm vs. Watertown and a berth in the Class S State Tournament which will begin on May 31st.  Of special note – congratulations to Emily Walker for scoring her 100th career goal and for being named Channel 3 Student Student Athlete of the Week on the coat-tails of her 9 goal performance against Morgan High School on May 7th.

 

The Boys Lacrosse Team finished their regular season 11-5 and seeded 11th in the Class S State Tournament (the date for their opening round game is TBD).  They will head to Watertown High School on Thursday night for the WCLC Championship at 8:00pm.

 

The Track and Field Teams had a great regular season and number of individual standout performances at the NVL Championship. Nicholas Mirabillo-Mulhall claimed Silver in the Javelin and Owen Woods was also 2nd place in the Pole Vault.  On the girls side Allison Barton claimed Bronze in the 100 hurdles.  Overall at the NVL Championship the boys team placed 9th and the girls team 11th.  The Class S State Track and Field Tournament will take place on May 31st.

 

The Boys and Girls Golf Teams are still in regular season mode and continue to have an exceptional spring representing St. Paul.  Currently the Girls are ranked number 2 in their division and the boys are in the 3rd spot in their division.  On May 31st the boys will compete for the Bristol City Championship and on June 2nd both teams will travel to Watertown Country Club for action at the NVL Championship.  The Division II state Tournament for the Girls will take place on June 8th and the Boys DIII State Tournament will be June 7th.
