The John E. Tavera (JET) Memorial Scholarship

The John E. Tavera (JET) Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an 8th grade students who is a resident of Bristol and who has been accepted to and is planning to attend St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol, CT. Like John, the recipient must exhibit a good-natured, fun-loving and positive personality, and have an interest in athletics. Students of all academic abilities are encouraged to apply. This $1,000 scholarship is for one year only.

Criteria: The scholarship is open to any Bristol resident who has been accepted to and is planning to attend St. Paul Catholic High School. Final determination of the award recipient will be made by the JET Scholarship Committee, in consultation with St. Paul Catholic High School.

Essay: The student must write a 250-500 word essay detailing how sports has positively influenced his/her life; and how he/she, by example, demonstrates a zest for life and desire to positively impact those around him/her.
