St. Paul Winter Athletics Update – 3/4/24

 

Indoor Track & Field – this season saw one of the largest Indoor Track & Field rosters in recent history.  The boys and girl teams did an exception job representing St. Paul during the regular and post-season.  The following student athletes qualified for the Class S Championship; Charles Aponte (4×200 relay & the 55 meter dash) / Landin Boutot (4×200 relay) / Jaiden Esprit (4×200 relay) / Jack McDougall (4×200 relay) / Daniel Taylor (4×200 relay & 55 meter dash) / Mikayla Johnson (high jump) / Jocelyn Kennedy (55 meter dash) / Liliana McCulloch (55 meter dash) / Grace Rose (55 meter dash & 300 meters).

 

Wrestling – Keegan Hill and Dominic Martin both found themselves on the medal stand with 3rd place finishes at the league championship. Congratulations to Mallory Sefick who placed 5th in her weight class at the New England Championship in Rhode Island.

 

Bristol Boys Swim CO-OP – The team placed 3rd at the CCC Conference Championship.  Aiden Palaj set a new meet record in the 500 Free and won the 100 Back Stroke and Oliver Mangham medaled in the 200IM (they both qualified for the Class LL State Championship).

 

Competition Cheerleading Team – The team competed well at the NVL Championship in February and Mia Mastrogiovanni and Allison Mangiagli both earned All NVL Team honors.  And Mia Mastrogiovanni was named to the Class S All State Team.

 

Boys Basketball – The boys basketball team were division champions and qualified for the NVL Tournament as the #6 seed, they will begin their state tournament play on Monday, March 4th with a first-round home game vs. Suffield HS.  Ethen Clements earned All NVL 2nd Team honors.

 

Girls Basketball – The Girls basketball team finished the regular season as NVL Division Champions and the #2 seed in the Class M standings.  The girls post season play began with an NVL Championship title and will continue on Monday night, March 4th with a home State Tournament ¼ Final Game vs. Granby Memorial.  All NVL tournament team honors were awarded to Audrey Tice  and Zola Cudjoe and Rebecca Kelly was named MVP.  All League 2nd Team honors were award to Olivia Dahn and Rebecca Kelly while Audrey Tice was named to the All NVL First Team and was honored as the NVL Senior of the Year.
