As an alum, past parent, current parent, grandparent, or friend of St. Paul, we thank you for being a part of our vision "to be a truly great Catholic high school". Here you will find St. Paul news you can use - delivered to you once a month during the school year. Enjoy reading about all the great things happening at St. Paul! | | Faith Features Meeting in our House Advisories each month brings together all students from all grades to work on projects like this. First, is a board showcased in our main hallway, with our school theme this year #StriveforExcellence. Zoom in and see what Bible verses the students found that help guide us to excellence. Second, is the God is Love board. What Bible verse will you choose to read today? | | CT March for Life - Hartford, State Capitol On Wednesday, March 19, forty-three students from Saint Paul Catholic High School will gather with hundreds, if not thousands of other people to stand in witness to and defense of life at the Connecticut March for Life. Saint Paul Catholic has been asked to lead the march, carrying the event banner ahead of the throng of marchers. While the school ordinarily sends a delegation to Washington, DC for the national march, which we hope to do again next year, there is greater need for a strong presence on the state level because of the Dobbs. v. Jackson case that overturned the Roe v. Wade decision at the US Supreme Court. That decision put abortion and other issues regarding the life and dignity of the human person back in the hands of the individual states. Saint Paul Catholic High School has been and will continue to be a staunch supporter of the right to life, and our students' presence at this march speaks clearly to that commitment. Please pray for our students as they make this pilgrimage. | Coach Bob The St. Paul community was saddened to learn that our former football coach, Bob Beltrandi passed away at the end of January in Ohio. He was a coach, friend and mentor to many and left lasting impressions on all he came in contact with. He was a substitute teacher and a respected coach here at St. Paul Catholic High School, Bristol from 2005 until his departure to move closer to family back in 2019. Coach Jude Kelly shared this memory of Coach Bob; it's a quote from an interview he did - "Coach Bob, how do you deal with being handicapped?" Coach Bob: "The only handicapped people in this world are the ones without Faith." - what a testament this quote is to Coach Bob's life! A few sentiments shared by St. Paul football moms: "Our boys would not be the men they are had they not been graced with Bob’s warmth, wisdom, guidance, optimism and unconditional love. Coach Bob was one of a kind and he will live on in the hearts of the young men whose lives he touched." - Lisa Carroll - mom to Brendan '15 | | "Coach Bob's unconditional love will never be forgotten. Our family is so blessed to have known him. Our boys and everyone that was around him are better people because of him." - Mabeline Silva - mom to Jose '15, Jordan '17, Josh '21 In 2011, Catherine Gibson, a St. Paul parent, was called to write a book about Coach and titled it "Coach Bob & Me". The story is based on Coach's encouragement and valuable lessons about overcoming obstacles and gaining confidence which resonated with all. The author set up a scholarship in coach's name where proceeds from the sale of the book were donated. | Last Month - Student Appreciation Day Last month workshops galore took place for all students at St. Paul with all teachers leading them! Students had a choice of workshops to attend like EMS, karaoke, coin metal changing experiment, book binding, reverse charades, board games, calm coloring, and more, ending the day with our winter pep rally and volleyball tournament. | Learning with 3-D Glasses Mr. Madden's students were taking notes about the Transcontinental Railroad using 3-D images and glasses to improve the visual experience of the lesson. | Anatomy and Physiology Mrs. Pisani's Honors Anatomy and Physiology class dissected a sheep brain to have a better understanding of how the nervous system and the brain function. | Performing Arts The St. Paul Performing Arts is ready for their production of Tarzan! Adapted for the stage from Disney’s epic animated adventure — and based on the popular characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs — the musical show features high-flying excitement as well as heart-pumping music by rock legend Phil Collins, with a score that includes the Academy Award-winning “You’ll Be in My Heart” as well as “Son of Man,” “Two Worlds,” and “Strangers Like Me.” Get your tickets beginning Monday, March 17. Visit spchs.com for tickets. | | Brown Bag Lunch The School Counseling Department hosts our Brown Bag Lunch career panel series as a great career exploration option for our students. They hear about careers they may be interested in from a panel discussing their job and the path to their career, giving our students an overview of what they do and finish with a Q&A from students. | This week we have Eduction as our career with 4 teachers visiting us: - Tashieanna O'Connor (current parent) - Daycare provider

| Brown Bag Lunch Mrs. Kendrick hosted a Brown Bag Lunch this month focusing on business and accounting. Ryan Scala, a class of 2016 alumni from St. Paul Catholic, came to speak to the accounting and business classes about his position as a performance auditor. His engaging presentation explained his position in State government in which he analyzes programs to make sure they comply with government grant money regulations as well as if the programs are efficient and effective. The group works closely with the Attorney General office and presents information that is used to pursue any wrongdoings. It was great having Ryan back at St. Paul sharing his career with our students. | | | Forever Falcons Gala was a Success The Forever Falcons Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year, and this past Saturday was no different.
