This year Archbishop Coyne presented these awards to persons who were selected for their outstanding service in the respect life mission in their respective parish or program. Thank you Mr. Duffany for all you do for this mission and for St. Paul! | | Junior Class Retreats On October 23 and 24, the junior boys and girls went on retreat to Lourdes Shrine in Litchfield. In connection with the overarching theme for juniors of our call to holiness as a vocation, their speakers challenged our students to strive after holiness. On the 23rd, Deacon Art Miller met with the boys and challenged them to realize that their holiness finds excellence in the way they serve others and respond to God's voice in service. On Thursday, Christa Chodkowski, Principal of Catholic Academy of Waterbury likewise challenged the girls to excellence in holiness. She introduced them in a unique way to St. Therese's concept of doing little things with great love. Greatness is in the details. | | | | | Remembrance Mass held 11/1 On Friday November 11 we held our annual All Saints Day Remembrance Mass which in the St. Paul Auditorium. Nov 17th 2024, 2:00 pm It's opening night of the Cornley Drama Society's newest production, "The Murder at Haversham Manor", and things have quickly gone from bad...to utterly disastrous. The troup's ambitious 1920s whodunit has everything you never want in a show; falling props, collapsing scenery, an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can't play dead, and actors who trip over everything... including their lines. How will this eager ensemble battle against all of the disastrous odds? Will they make it to the final curtain call? | "The Play That Goes Wrong" is a renowned comedy that is sure to leave you in stitches. Don't miss out on this amazing production, brought to life by the talented students of St. Paul Catholic High School. Bring your friends, family, and a good sense of humor to join us for an evening of theatrical mishaps and side-splitting laughter. Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields Director Mark Mazzarella '78 Assistant Director Mae Archacki '17 | School Theme This Year Our school theme this year is #striveforexcellence. This summer students read the book Do Hard Things by Alex & Brett Harris and compared the book to how an Olympic and Paralympic athlete achieved excellence and how they themselves will strive for excellence this school year. Students created a presentation and delivered it to their advisory group. | Our 2025 Walk-a-thon Goal was met and exceeded! We reached and exceeded our $30,000 school-wide goal for our annual Walk-a-Thon with donations reaching over $36,000. THANK YOU to all who participated and donated to our students and faculty - we could not have met our goal without you. The day was beautiful and students and faculty walked the campus and track then enjoyed a celebration with food, Hawaiian Ice and fun dunk tank antics. #striveforexcellence #dohardthings | | | COMMUNITY: Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon At the September 27 St. Paul football game, St. Paul athletics recognized Bristol Talks Teal/Turn The Towns Teal awareness campaign at halftime. Below is a letter from Mrs. Judie Lodovico. Welcome Home! First, I would like to give a huge shout out to Coach Mazzarella, and his entire football staff for dedicating this game to our Turn The Towns Teal annual campaign to raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer and its symptoms. Also, a sincere thank you to Bob Fiorito, for helping to facilitate the TEALING of the St. Paul Catholic High School campus for tonight's game. As a two-time 23 year ovarian cancer survivor, I am humbled to have our efforts to raise awareness honored tonight. We began this awareness campaign 13 years ago with the distribution of approximately 500 TEAL ribbons displayed around the city of Bristol. Little did we know that our grass root efforts would blossom into something that now displays up to and over 2,500 bows throughout businesses and private properties within the city during the month of September, which is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. Through the guidance and direction of Susan Sadecki and Bristol's Main Street Community Foundation, Bristol Talks Teal, a field of interest fund was established and we are now able to not only raise awareness, but can assist women who suffer from ovarian cancer and may qualify for, or need, medical assistance or support they cannot provide for themselves. As the wife of a former teacher, coach and Athletic Director here at St. Paul for close to 30 years, St. Paul Catholic will always be a second home to us and our family. We are honored to have our Turn the Towns Teal campaign recognized this evening. Just a few years ago, Dana Wilton, '16 graced the St. Paul stage as Liesel in The Sound of Music, where she won best supporting actress in the CT High School Musical Theater Awards program, along with other lead roles throughout her high school career. Dana was a dynamic force in the St. Paul Performing Arts program. "As a drama teacher, this is one of the most amazing things to happen to one of your students," exclaims Mark Mazzarella, director of the school's theater program. When you have students succeed at this level and you see them living out their dream, you can't help but feel joy for their success." I couldn't be more proud of Dana!" She'll be making her Broadway debut in the new Elton John musical Tammy Faye which made its world premiere in London in 2022 and won the Laurence Olivier Award in 2023. It boasts some of Broadway's biggest names and opens in November. Speaking for all of us, from the students who worked and performed with Dana and to those in our St. Paul community, we wish Dana all the best in her Broadway debut! | | | Amelia Badzioch '22 Joining the Army was always a possibility for me. Before applying to college, the thought was constantly on my mind but I did not know how it would work with me wanting to become a doctor. That is why I placed the idea in the back of my mind and decided to attend Thomas Jefferson University to major in pre-medical studies. | My first two years went fairly smoothly. Some classes were more of a struggle than others, like organic chemistry, but I feel that most of my teachers at St. Paul’s prepared me well for taking things into my own hands and teaching myself the material. I also completed my EMT certification last summer, which is where I met a friend in the Army Reserves. That was the little push I needed to get over the line of uncertainty as to if I should do it. Hearing stories and the memories you make solidified my desire to not only try something new, but to use it in my future. I joined the Reserves as a combat medic (68W), to put it in simple terms, serving as an EMT for the Army. | | This past summer, I completed basic training in Missouri, which entailed various activities such as obstacle courses, physical fitness tests, and many others. I was fortunate enough to win the Female Iron Soldier award in my group. This means I achieved the highest physical fitness score out of the 60 females in the group of 240 trainees. Next summer, I will continue to train for my combat medic job in Texas. Being a Reservist means that I go to work one weekend a month throughout the school year and two weeks in the summer. My unit is a blood detachment unit, meaning we do blood drives and transfer that blood to soldiers in need. This allows me to compete schooling while continuing with my goal of becoming a doctor. The Army also has a medical program for medical school, and upon completion, serving as an active member during residency and as a doctor. This decision was a difficult one to make, however, the positive outcomes and experiences are more significant than one can imagine. | Congratulations to Fr. Matt Collins Class of 2012.
