Escape Alive™
Self Defense Program
Bristol Catholic Schools have partnered with Jane Doe No More, Inc. and are pleased to announce this FREE self defense program to our community of female students and parents.
St. Paul Catholic High School will host the Escape Alive™ self defense program on Saturday, March 9th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm in the St. Paul Gymnasium.
This program is made possible by generous contributions from the Main Street Community Foundation, a St. Paul parent, and Jane Doe No More, and is absolutely FREE to all participants.
Every two minutes, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted. The vast majority (nine out of ten) are women; 80% are under the age of 30, 44% are under the age of 18. Since 2009, Jane Doe No More, Incorporated has partnered with the professional team at East Coast Training Systems to deliver self defense classes to women and girls ages 12 and older. Our Escape Alive™ Survival Skills program is designed to give women and girls a fighting chance in the face of attack.
Each four-hour Escape Alive™ session consists of an “academic” component, as well as physical training and skills practice. Participants learn awareness tips, escape strategies, and kick, strike, and blow techniques designed to disable assailants and enable escape. Since 2009, more than four thousand women and girls have participated in our Escape Alive™ classes.
Thanks to our generous sponsors of the program, we have been able to offer Escape Alive™ classes at no cost to participants since 2012.
NOTE: Participants must be at least 15 years of age, with the exception of designated Mother/Daughter classes (minimum age of 12). All participants 17 yrs or younger must have parental permission, and be signed in by an adult on the day of the event. Mother/Daughter classes are open to individuals, not only mothers and their daughters.
