About this Event

When: Friday, August 18, 2017. The race starts at 6:00 p.m.
Where: Starts & ends at St. Paul Catholic High School, 1001 Stafford Avenue, Bristol, CT

Hosted by St. Paul Catholic High School the Falcon 5K is a great community road race that is casual and enjoyable for all levels of ability. Run, jog or walk this flat, fast and simple to navigate course. Proceeds will benefit the St. Paul Catholic High School Reverend Edmund O’Brien Scholarship Fund and the Michael Walsh ‘07 Scholarship Fund. All the post-race activities make participating this event a great way to start the weekend.

Race Highlights

Falcon 5K t-shirts for those who are pre-registered by August 11 then while supplies last on race day.

Tribute to Manchester England Bombing Victim

High School Students Record a Stirring Tribute To Manchester Bombing Victims and Their Families

Bristol, CT – June 22, 2017 –  There are no big name stars on this recording, just a very caring and passionate local performing arts high school group who wanted to record an original song for the families and victims in the wake of the Manchester England bombing on May 22, 2017.

“Our students were deeply saddened by the senseless tragedy that occurred in Manchester”, says director Mark Mazzarella. “We wanted to do something for these families who were suffering. So, we decided to do what we do best. SING. I immediately contacted our musical director and asked him to write a song that would show our love and support for the families and victims of this devastating tragedy.”

So, on June 12, 2017 current members and alum of the St. Paul Performing Arts recorded an emotional tribute entitled “The Children of Manchester” at Telefunken Studios, in South Windsor, CT.

Our hope is this song will bring comfort and peace to those families and all who listen to its poignant lyrics and prayerful melody. Many students volunteered their time to this project by playing cello and violin, singing and playing piano. A handful of St. Paul Catholic musical directors, past and present were on hand to aid their talents with this special project too.

During the recording, each student had a photo of a bombing victim pasted to their music sheet – a very powerful way of remembering why they were singing.

A short film captured the moment and artistry displayed at the recording studio that evening. It will be featured on various social media platforms. The song will also be hitting the airwaves in Manchester, England very soon. To hear the beautiful song listen HERE!

It is our hope that this musical tribute will help bring comfort to those families affected and let them know that across an ocean, after all that has happened, we are still thinking of them, offering our love and support and keeping them all close in our hearts and prayers.

MTSIFrom one of the most respected high school theatre programs in Connecticut, St. Paul Performing Arts is offering an intensive 5-day, 6 hour, Musical Theatre Workshop. It’s an intensive program dedicated to the serious musical theatre student.

Students will learn all aspects of song preparation as it pertains to Broadway Musical repertoire, including basics in proper vocal and singing techniques, musical stylings, and acting the song.

Students will work on solo material, group singing and choreography to become a triple threat performer.
Receive professional theatre training by working with and learning from renowned, distinguished faculty and award-winning Broadway guest artists.

At the end of the one week session, students will be involved in a final performance which will be filled with Broadway songs and solos. Through this workshop, students will make new friends and learn a lifetime of theatrical skills and techniques.

The founder of St. Paul Performing Arts is Emmy®Award Winning Director, and two-time Tony®Award Nominee for the Excellence in Theatre Education Award, Mark Mazzarella, who is celebrating his 10th year as Artistic Director.
